ORFACT/ Child Protection Policy

ORFACT goes to great lengths to protect the rights of children at all times.  This is why we do not allow you to choose a sponsored child from a selection of our children's photographs, names, ages, and locations online like other child welfare organisations.  We believe that it is in the best interest of the child and their future to protect their identity from the public eye.  Once you decide to become a child sponsor, you will be able to communicate regularly with your child, in accordance with the guidelines you will receive in your child sponsor pack.

  • The location and family name of a child will be withheld until the donor has been identified. ORFACT will not publish or make public any contact details of any of the children or their families.
  • Sponsorship is based on the agreement that donors will not attempt to contact the child or their family by any means without the express permission of ORFACT.
  • The donor and child are free to exchange correspondence via ORFACT’s UK Office, however all postal material must conform to our policy.
  • The donor may visit the child, at his or her own expense, provided written permission is obtained in advance. ORFACT may carry out police background checks before permitting such visits. The project officer representing the child will supervise the visit at all times.
  • Unfortunately, ORFACT cannot allow unannounced visits to the sponsored child. For obvious safety reasons, sponsored children cannot be brought to the donor’s country for visits.
